Expendable Communication Buoys
The X-SUB are tethered Expendable Communication Buoys (ECBs) allowing a submarine at depth to communicate with above the surface.
At the end of the communication, the X-SUB ECBs scuttle themselves and sink.
The X-SUB portfolio is made up of three ECBs:
- The AIS/GPS X-SUB, providing AIS and GPS data
- The RF WideBand X-SUB, allowing Rx and Tx radiocommunication
- The Iridium X-SUB, enabling satellite communication (voice and data)
